Viigo now showcases a classic line up of the spookiest stories ever written… Available right now in our Entertainment section.

In case you’re not familiar with DailyLit, it’s a free e-Book service that delivers a daily snippet (mobile chapter) of your favorite stories each day in Viigo until the story ends.   You can share snippets with friends (through email, twitter, facebook, etc.) just like you would any other RSS feed.

Adding a Scary Read is easy:

1) From the Viigo home screen, open the Entertainment module then click ‘Add Channel’.

2) Select eBooks by DailyLit, then choose ‘Scary Reads‘.

3) Select as many scary reads as you think you can handle.  Then navigate back to the Entertainment module where they’ll be waiting to spook you.

It is available today at http://getviigo.com or from any one of our Viigo Partner downloads (e.g. BBGeeks, BerryReview, CrackBerry.com, etc.) and from BlackBerry App World, but please remember to remove any earlier versions of the application in advance of downloading the new one especially if you are switching to/from the App World version for the first time.

Beyond the performance improvements, the latest version allows you to see ALL the RSS feeds you have subscribed across Viigo from within News & RSS module, neatly categorized by heading … all designed to make reading your favorite feeds even easier.

And once a story has been read in any module, they are synchronized across all modules. The example below shows an article read in News in the first image and recognized as read in Sports in the third image.

With the download of the latest version of Viigo, you will also have speedier access to the new and/or enhanced services such as the NFL, NHL and Soccer within the Sports module.

With more than 50 countries to select from, each further categorized to provide regional focus, users of the Local Wine Events service will never miss an opportunity to sample what’s on offer.

Using the current version of Viigo, adding the Local Wine Events service is a quick and easy process.

From the Viigo homepage enter the Local Interest module.

Next, click on “Add Channel”, then Local Wine Events

At this point you can choose the region or regions of interest among the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or International locations (of which there are 46 countries to choose from).

Once you have added the channels, the next time you enter local wine events the feeds will be available for you.

Live Well!

It only takes three clicks to access the hockey feed library. 1) from the home screen click on Sports, 2) click on “Add Sports”, 3) click on hockey.

From here you can see all the folders and feeds you have to choose from. By selecting the feeds you will have access to the content once you return to the hockey service. Once the season starts an additional feed for league wide statistics will also be available.

You can also elect to receive team specific information by entering the Team Channels folder. There you can access team scores, schedule and roster. And once the season starts, you will also be able to add team specific statistics.

And, of course, you are also able to select from a number of hockey news sources to be sure you stay on top of all the happenings across the league or as it related to your team.

Announcing Viigo News! Available  immediately at www.getviigo.com/news, the application allows you to select from hundreds of popular business, finance, sports, entertainment or headline news directly from the Channel Library so that you can stay current with the world around you. We now also make it possible for you to get the content you love from our Content Partners such as BBGeeks, BerryReview, CrackBerry.com etc. all in one place.

With Viigo News, we’ve also updated the UI to make a few things easier.

You’ll notice the new buttons across the bottom of the Channels screen. Now, you can just click the “Add Channel” button to take you directly to the Channel Library. There, 13 newly organized categories are immediately available to you to select from.

We’ve also made it easier for you to add content not already in our channel library. If you want Viigo to search for feeds associated with a particular web site, for example, from within the Channel library, click on “Add Your Own Channel” then select “Check a website for RSS”

And, the News version of Viigo, of course, allows you to share what you find interesting with your social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

Viigo News now also supports dedicated WiFi! Those of you who are not on large data plans can update the app for free while you are on WiFi. Check in OPTIONS/Network Settings and select WiFi … for WiFi only connectivity.

Important Note: If you are installing Viigo News, please remove your current version of Viigo first, and reboot your device. Then once, you’ve installed Viigo News, just sign in with your existing user name and password, and your feeds will re-appear,

When Just The News Counts

With the London Fashion Week version of Viigo you can access catwalk schedules, designer biographies, photos from the runways, live news reports, the official Twitter streams and more.

The Catwalk Schedule provides a day-by-day event listings with associated designer and the designers biographical information.

The Designers channel features biographical information of each of the designers.

If you are visiting London for the event you will also benefit from having local bar, hotel, restaurant and shop information.

All the breaking news from the event is immediately available to you as well.

Follow London Fashion Week’s official Twitter stream. And, not only can you view a post, you can retweet it, reply to it and reply to all mentioned in the post.

And, of course, what fashion show would be complete without photos? Get the best shots on your BlackBerry smartphone.

To follow the EUFA Champions League on Viigo, enter the Sports module and select “Add Sports” and from the list select “Soccer” then “UEFA Champions League”.

At this point you have the option of getting the feeds for league wide schedule, Live Scores, Completed Games Scores and Standings. Further, you can enter the Team Scores & Schedules folder to get team specific information. Once in the folder, select the group your favorite team in is, for instance Group H for Arsenal and then choose the Schedule and/or Live Scores feeds.

Once you have added the feeds, they will be available to you the next time you enter the Sports module. And you can follow your team and the league.

Bend it like Viigo!

A few days ago, the server team informed me that we’d passed the threshold of 1.5BB articles delivered … a stunning number if you think about it. Clearly, Viigo users are voracious consumers of information.

Secondly, we recently surpassed 2MM downloads of the app itself. In fact, the download pace has been increasing rapidly, with the vast majority of downloads having actually occurred in the past 8 months.

Kudos to the team here, and to our many partners … these numbers are the direct result of a lot of hard work from a great group of talented people.

Can Federer win his 16th Grand Slam title and distance himself in the record books or will the return of Nadal put his #1 status on the line? Get live game, set and match updates, follow the official ATP Twitter feed (without even having to access Twitter), player rankings and schedules.

To add tennis to your Viigo, from the home screen enter the Sports module and select Add Sport. From the list choose tennis.

At this point you are presented with a choice of adding men’s tennis (ATP), women’s tennis (WTA) or tennis news. Of course, you can add them all. For both tours, you can follow live matches, see the upcoming schedule, see the player rankings, and the official twitter stream.

Once the channels have been added, the next time you enter the sport module the tennis service will be available to you. Follow the matches as they are played, view the rankings, read the Twitter stream, view the tournaments that are coming up or that have past and access the breaking tennis news.

Much has recently been made of the surge in popularity of microblogging services Twitter and FriendFeed, among others. And while these services have proven to be an excellent way for individuals to quickly share information with the world, join in conversations on a particular topic or follow an area of interest, companies have seemingly limited their participation to retail consumer brand awareness campaigns or as a support or help desk tool.

However, corporate interest in the use of microblogging as a means of enabling greater collaboration is increasing. Maximizing your investment in enterprise mobility

The following is what you need to do to track your packages in Viigo.

Enter the Local Interest module and select Add Channel.

From the list select Packaging Tracking. You will then be asked to provide a tracking number. At this point we provide you the option to associate a label or name with the package in question. If a label is not provided the reference you will see when you return to see the delivery progress will be the tracking number itself.

Once a number has been entered, when you return to the main Local Interest screen you will see that the package tracking service has been added. Enter the service to see the packages you are tracking. Select a package to see where it is at that moment in time.

Neither rain, sleet, snow or hail can stop Viigo from knowing where you mail is.

Pack it, Rack it, Roll it, Track it

By delivering books in installments on a daily basis, DailyLit has been set up to make it easy to read an eBook on your smartphone. Here is how it works.

Enter the Entertainment module from the homepage and select Add Channel.

From the list choose eBooks from DailyLit then choose a folder from which you would like to make your book selection. Of note, with this update there is a new folder, Contemporary Reads.

The last step is to pick the books you want to read. The next time you enter the Entertainment module you will see the DailyLit service has been added and within it you will see the books you had requested.

Select the book that you want to read and you will see that the first installments are available. Click on the first one and start reading. Installments will continue to be delivered to you on a daily basis until the book has been completed.

All the classics, all the time from you friends at Viigo and the DailyLit.

To add the service, simply click the BlackBerry key and select “Add Service” from the Viigo home page.

The service allows you to see the scores update while the games are being played, view the standings broken down by division and access the league schedule.

You can even purchase tickets directly from your BlackBerry.

There is also a news feed direct from the CFL.ca website that brings you the latest info on what’s happening in the league. And you can post the article to Twitter with one click!

Viigo and the CFL are bringing all the action to your BlackBerry as the 2009 season marches to the grey Cup.

Arrrggoooooss!!! (we had to)

The Viigo YouTube service now let’s you choose amongst 23 countries (with an additional worldwide option), each with 15 categories (with the US having one extra category) and 9 channels.

To add new YouTube channels, enter the Entertainment module, select “Add Channel” then “YouTube”. From there, pick you r region(s), category(ies) and channel(s) of choice.

When you return to the YouTube service, all the channels you had selected are now available to you.

Note: you must be running BB OS 4.3 or higher (depending on the device) … and please please please make sure your data plan covers lots of data usage (or use WiFi) … videos tend to consume lots of bandwidth.

Raising your rock ‘n’ roll IQ.

Located in the Local Interest module, the service gives Viigo users the ability to call a cab with one click. You will then have the option of having the service recommend the taxicab company best able to serve the call or allow a connection to a preferred cab company. To do this, enter the Call a Taxi channel and click on the top banner (outlined in green in the picture below).

By using the Call a Taxi service you can avoid busy signals when connecting to a taxicab dispatch and find the first available taxicab company dispatch during the busiest of times.

Adding the Call a Taxi service to your Viigo is a two step process. First, from within the Local Interest Module, select Add a Channel. Second, select call a taxi from the menu presented.

Note: The #TAXI service costs between $1.25 and $1.79 a call depending on your carrier.

Now the smartest way to hail a cab

This is easy. In the Entertainment folder, go to Add Channel, and select Movie Showtimes … there select Movie Showtimes in your Neighbourhood

Viigo supports movie listings for Canada (294 geographic locations and 498 theatres), United Kingdom (456 geographic locations and 693 theatres) and the United States (2746 geographic locations and 5,293 theatres).

First select the appropriate country.

Next you will enter you Zip or Postal code, the radius you would like to set as a parameter for your search and whether you would like to use kilometers or miles.

At this point you would select to add the search as a movie listing or a theatre listing (or both).

Now when you next go in to the Movie service you will see your movies and/or theatres by radius. And within the channel the movies are listed by proximity.

Once you are in the theatre information section, you will see a second new feature “View Map”. This will help you find your way to the movie.

Also now included is the ability to add a coming attraction to your calendar. Never miss another premier!
